Alan Warde is Professor of Sociology in the School of Social Sciences and Professorial Fellow of the Sustainable Consumption Institute at the University of Manchester. His current research is in the area of consumption, with particular reference to food and eating and to sustainability. A major on-going project is a re-study of eating out in Britain, replicating an investigation initially conducted in 1995 and reported in A.Warde & L.Martens, Eating Out: social differentiation, consumption and pleasure, (Cambridge University Press, 2000).
