Stephen is an interdisciplinary researcher who focuses broadly on sustainability challenges in the food sector and how quantitative modelling can be used to help address these challenges. He has 6 years of experience working on collaborative projects developing models of agricultural systems and their environmental impacts, as well as developing tools to assess how these impacts can be reduced. He was awarded a PhD from Newcastle University in Animal Science (2016). His doctorate was a part-industry funded project modelling the environmental impacts of pig farming systems and the potential of alternative feeding strategies to mitigate them.
A key aspect of his role with SHARECITY will be to work with project partners to co-design tools which can effectively be quantify the sustainability impact and potential of urban food sharing practices.
